If you don’t start now, when?

Have you ever thought about the things you want to achieve in life? Or are you the type of person who only waits for life to happen; someone who just reacts to every stimulus there is.

But if you have considered the things you want to achieve, then the next rational thing to do is to identify the steps required to get there. Why? Because goal-setting is not a one-time event. You need to start somewhere, right? You start by laying out all the groundwork: your plan, strategies, and schedules. And when should you start? Now. Of course now. That’s a no-brainer. I believe you already know that. Now’s the best time to start making things happen. And what does it take for you to start making things happen? You need to take one step, then another, and another. You need to execute the plan you developed at the beginning.

Do you still remember the First Law of Motion? It states that:

a body at rest will remain at rest unless an outside force acts on it, and a body in motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force*

So what happens if you won’t take that first step? You will remain where you are, at rest.

Maybe, that’s the reason why you’re not doing anything to start achieving your goals. It’s the reason why you’re not making a plan and working on your plan. Because being at rest is way easier, the path of least resistance. It’s easier to dream about the could be’s rather than work on them and make them happen. If you don’t start now, when?

It takes work to start something. Like they always say, starting is challenging but the thing is, once you’ve started, you will remain moving forward after that. Just like from the First Law of Motion.

Then every step you take forward takes you closer to your goal.

Therefore, never allow yourself to just dream about things. Don’t let time pass you by. You have to admit that you are not getting any younger. Work on your dreams today.

If you finally decided to start working on your plan, here’s something I wrote about the things you need to consider when planning.
