How to start your year right

You must like beginnings. It’s as if, every new year, you are reborn. You get to think that there are lots of opportunities within those 365 days in store just for you.

And the curious thing about beginnings is this: you feel like you can now write the story of your life in a blank page of a book, all fresh and new. All things are possible. You are even so eager to say goodbye to all the things you want to leave behind. This is a fresh start.

RELATED: We like beginnings because…

But no matter how hard you try to make the first day of your year as perfect as possible, you still have to make it through the remaining 364 days. How long can you keep up with the goals you have set for yourself?

Everyone wants to start great and end strong this coming new year. So if you want to prosper and succeed this coming year, here’s a biblical truth for you:

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.
Joshua 1:8 AMP

Skip all the how-to’s, ways, and steps the world offers you. From Joshua 1:8, here’s a simple instruction you must follow:

read God’s Word + meditate on it day and night + obey God’s Word
prosper and succeed

If this is new to you, you are all welcome to try it. Start your year by reading God’s Word and make it a habit all year round. It may even become the greatest decision you will make for the year. If you are a Christian who shares bible verses on social media but have never opened the bible to read and study larger parts of the Word, then this is something you must consider. God’s Word is so full of wisdom that every time you read it, you will still be surprised to learn a new thing.

Why is reading God’s Word a must?

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB

From 2 Timothy 3:16-17, God’s Word equips you for every good work. In that case, you will be made ready for everything the coming year has in store for you.

Are you excited to put it to a test? I challenge you to start your year right! Read God’s Word, meditate on it day and night, and carefully obey it. By doing so, prosperity and success will be with you.

Happy new year!
